A public meeting regarding the future of the swimming pool was held in the Community Centre on 26th April. The meeting was attended by over 80 people and they were given an update on the current situation and a presentation by Dennis Freeman-Wright from the ASA. He gave information regarding the formation of a possible community trust to manage the pool and 30 people signed up to be involved in future discussions on this issue. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for 25th May.

We are at a stage where surveys and detailed feasibility assessments will be necessary to scope potential re-development, determine future viability and funding sources in order to contribute to a robust business plan. Discussions have taken place with the National Pool Company (the current maintenance contractors) and they are in a position to provide plans and costings regarding a redevelopment programme.

It will be necessary to allocate some funding to pay professional fees to obtain these assessments. It is therefore proposed that an initial sum of £5000 is made available as a swimming pool feasibility fund to commission necessary surveys and develop a business plan. This money could be allocated from the current swimming pool budget.
