Business at the Lido has improved after a slow start in June due to the very unseasonal weather. The final touches to the plant room refurbishment have been made, with the installation of the Ultra-Violet Water Treatment System and a complete rewiring, including installation of LED lighting. The cafe continues to provide a good service and opportunities for a number of catering apprentices.
Trustees have prepared for the official opening on the 19th July with presentations and proposals for future development; the local MP, Chairman of Essex CC and Chairman of TDC are amongst invited guests as well as reps from grant funding bodies.
The manager of the Lido continues to develop innovative use of the facility with the welcome addition of the crowd funded inflatable and a triathlon event. Provision for adult users through early and late swim sessions, exercise and Pilates groups continues to be popular.
Plans for future development are being formulated and new signage has been installed, with a heritage theme.
Very little to report however there appears to be a ground swell for some action on the shelter next to the swimming pool. This is owned by TDC and we have asked them to replace it, however it is now in a shameful state, and we may have to have some cosmetic work carried out on it. The other interesting point is that the local people on Social Media seem to be pressing for renovation rather than replacement with a more up to date shelter. Watch this space.
