The CHAPS day proved to be very successful with about 120 men being seen and just over 20 other having to be sent away as all the sessions were full.
3 aneurisms were found, 1 gall bladder problem, 3 severely diabetic results and 1 borderline and 6 prostate severe and quite a few who have to be retested.
We have been asked to hold one again next year.
Careline has now started its lifting service, but is working with Colchester while they train their staff. It took longer than anticipated to start this service as they had trouble recruiting staff. Careline is 30 years old this year and is planning a get together for its service users. Careline now promote a new wrist band service that has your details recorded on it and information is fed to the ambulance service.
Over the last quarter 2300 calls were made to the ambulance service and out of that 1200 were falls, so as Careline can attend quicker and lift someone it is predicted that a large saving be made to the ambulance service. It cost £200 per ambulance trip.
