Updated Thursday July 25: Town Mayor Graham Steady said: ” I am pleased to report that as of this morning, the travellers have left. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with solving this issue.  It shows a real positive image to our residents.”

Brightlingsea Town Council is aware of the traveller incursion  on the Western Promenade, and all the relevant agencies have been advised.

Essex Countywide Traveller Unit attended the unauthorised encampment on Monday morning and issued them with a ‘Direction to Leave Land’ notice. Police have agreed to increase foot patrols in this area and have advised that “due process will follow”.
