  • CORRESPONDENCE REQUIRING ACTION:

2.1 Battle’s Over – A Nations’ Tribute – 11th November 2018. At 7pm on the 11th November 2018 a chain of beacons will be lit to commemorate and remember the end of the war – a century after the guns fell silent. Co-ordination for the event begins in February 2017. Does the Town Council wish to take part in this event?

2.2 There is another Countrywide Superfast Essex Parish Engagement Event on Wednesday 7th December, 7pm to 9pm (with arrival, registration and light buffet/refreshments from 6.30pm) at the Essex Record Office in Chelmsford. Councillor V Chapman attended previous events.

2.3 The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has formally commenced an electoral review of Tendring District Council. This electoral review will recommend new electoral arrangements for Tendring District Council. In particular it will propose:

  • The total number of councillors elected to the council in future
  • The number of Wards
  • The number of Councillors representing each ward
  • Ward boundaries
  • Names of Wards

The Consultation closes on the 9th January 2017. The Commission is minded to recommend that 48 councillors should be elected to Tendring District Council in the future. They are now inviting proposals to help it draw up a pattern of wards to accommodate 48 district councillors.
