Notification that TDC has submitted a proposal for new district ward boundaries to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England in line with their consultation on an Electoral Review for Tendring. The next stage will be for the LGBCE to consult on draft recommendations for new district ward boundaries which we are expecting in March.

Notification from Essex County Council regarding the Replacement Waste Local Plan – Modifications Consultation.  This consultation runs until 16th February 2017.

Jog Walk Run would like to use Millennium Garden as finish line and post race assembly area on Sunday 10th September 2017.

J&K Events Ltd would like to hold a “Brightlingsea Food & Drink Festival 2017” on the Western Promenade on Friday 25th August 5pm – 9pm, Saturday 26th August 11am – 6pm and Sunday 27th August 11am – 5pm.  See enclosed sheet giving overview of event.  (Lower Park Playing Fields has already been booked out over this week/end to EEDA Camping and Caravanning Club).

Porridge and Pens, who are a Brightlingsea based charity which manages the Brightlingsea Free School in Ghana, would like to hold a Summer Fete on Hurst Green on either Saturday 26th August, Sunday 27th August or Monday 28th August (Bank Holiday) alternatively Saturday 16th September 2017.  The Fete is to raise vital funds for the school, and will also be in partnership with the Brightlingsea Rotary Club, who are helping with the planning and running of the event.  The Fete will run from 12 noon until 6pm.

Bert Stocks Fun Fair would like to visit on Monday 24th July – Monday 31st July (leaving date). She is asking if the fee could stay the same as they are struggling and do we know of any works that will be taking place on the Promenade at the time that they need to be made aware of.

Brightlingsea Harbour Commissioners have contacted us as follows: “Following the replacement of the new section of Town Jetty, we previously communicated with yourselves that a rolling refurbishment plan would be carried out reducing the requirement for some enormous capital replacement programme for the Town Jetty every 20 years.

The refurbishment of the removed Town Jetty is about to take place, having surveyed it we have built up a schedule of works;

1.       Remove all fixtures and fittings. (BHC)

2.       Remove excessively corroded steel sections. (BHC)

3.       Replace by welding in new sections by a coded welder (AP Engineering, Brightlingsea)

4.       Lift Steel Lattice, remove floats, recover to deck house. (Brightlingsea Boat Maintenance)

5.       Steel lattice transported to be shot blasted, painted with 3 x coats of 2 pack paint (Hickman’s, Brightlingsea)

6.       Strip down, repair, refurbish and paint floats with 3 x coats of 2 pack paint (BHC)

7.       Recover and Lift Steel Lattice, recover floats from deck house. (Brightlingsea Boat Maintenance)

8.       Refit floats (BHC)

9.       Store pontoon ready to fit as required.(BHC)

I writing to advise you of the costs, as although we are not intending to generate profit from it we do need to cover our costs.

Total cost to BTC £5720

 

We recently carried out similar repairs on Rowhedge Pontoon which cost them £8000, for comparison the cost of a new Pontoon is £17000.
