Report from Council Representatives on the Outside Bodies:
Councillor J Chapman
On Tuesday 10th April a meeting was held with Inspector Darren Deex Community Policing Team and sergeant Alex Southgate also from the Community Policing Team.
The Police have a community meeting in different areas every 4-6 weeks.
Police spoke about the crime figures National Crime is up 16% and Tendring has seen a 11% increase. Brightlingsea has seen an increase and the Youth Service are going to do outreach work with the Colne School.
Police numbers are down by 50% and the police stations are now down to just over 30 from 82. Many will be amalgamating services with the Fire Brigade and Police will use our Fire Station again.
A lot of undercover work is being done in Brightlingsea with some really good results, particularly with the removal of several untaxed and uninsured cars.
It was a very informative and constructive meeting but it was a pity more people didn’t attend.
