Applied for a grant from Community Reach for a Billy Goat road sweeper and cleaner, unfortunately we were not successful with the statement coming back to us that this should be purchased and paid for by County and District Councils. We felt that if the County and District Councils were doing the job that should be done, we wound not need to apply to get our own machines. It was sad to hear that most of the committee were Councillors. We have applied to other funders.

Had an invite to attend the opening of the new Beauty Salon in Victoria Place.

As you will see the electricity has been restored in the gardens and the street lights around the garden are now working. The street lights in Victoria Place are still not working although we have been told this is a priority. The policy is where there are CCTV cameras then lights are left on all night but we are into several weeks without them. Also the light that was hit in November by the bus stop, we have been told this will be done in this years works program.

The Government are working on trying to maintain and help High Streets but its silly things like lamp posts laying across paths and no lights that don’t help the look of the town.

The town centre wall has been pushed down and broken So we may now have to push ahead with repairs as parts have become dangerous.

Attended the consecration of the new Burial ground. The new land is now in use for burial of ashes with headstones being allowed and will then be used for burials when the last plot of the existing extension has been used.

After taking in the length of time it has taken us to get this far (4.5 years) it may be a good time to start looking at the next extension.

Attended VJ parade. British Legion has changed where we stand in future, only the Mayor will be at the War Memorial and Councillors will be asked to stand with the public.
