Minute Number 024 – Questions from the Public.
Q1) A couple of weeks ago the Government Minister for Infrastructure was in Brightlingsea. Can this Council give any update on what he was doing? He spent the day in town, went on a boat with Dong, and was interviewed by Essex Radio. The Mayor replied no, the Council were not aware.
Q2) We have just had a community leaflet about Bradwell. Can we have assurance that Tendring District Council and Brightlingsea Town Council with its emergency committee, give us as much information, as this is a big project and will affect future generations? The Mayor replied yes, and that the leaflet is being delivered to all houses. Councillor Chapman mentioned that one of the Independent Group, John White, has been invited and spent several days, and is speaking at the enquiry at Anglesey, so we can ask for a report from him.
Q3) What do we need to do to keep our library? There is a lot more that could be done with the library. The Mayor replied that a public meeting has been held in Brightlingsea, which was convened by Councillor Chapman and Yallop, with County Councillor Goggin in attendance, the feeling was that Essex County Council were going to close them. A discussion took place. County Councillor Goggin stated that the consultation has taken place, across the whole of the county, expressions of interests are being taken forward, and we are hoping that when they analyse the responses from Brightlingsea there is a sufficient response for the library to remain open and be used more. The Mayor replied ‘watch this space’.
