Minute Number 087 – Questions from the Public.

Question 1) Allotments – It appears that several residents think that the allotments is a dog exercise area. Can we have a sign saying “no dogs allowed”? It is not good when you are trying to work, and have to avoid the paths etc. for dog mess. Councillor Steady replied that the Council does not encourage allotment holders to let their dogs go up there and run free. If there is a problem with non allotment holders, then we will look into that. We are, however, looking at night time cameras to try and elevate this type of problem. We will also look into a sign.

Question 2) Whilst the new Museum is open, we have a constant stream of people coming in, asking where the toilets are. There are no signs anywhere. Could we have a sign somewhere? The Mayor replied that the toilets on the Marina and the Promenade could be closest to the Museum. He said that we will look into that. Councillor Steady mentioned the possibility of working with the Museum on a ‘you are here’ sign.

Question 3) Following the article In the Chronicle, where is the Town Square proposed? The Mayor replied that it is a Waterfront Square, and will be in front of the Colne Yacht Club. He gave a brief update and mentioned that hopefully within the next 10 days, some information will be released so that the community knows what the application is all about. He also stated that it would not affect any un-registered land at the Hard, or affect launching or access to the Hard.
