Minute Number 046 – Questions from the Public.

Q1) In the Chronicle it stated that dogs are to be banned using the grass area by the fountain. When will this come into force? The Mayor replied that this is to be discussed and voted on under Councillor Chapman’s report.

Q2) If an area of Victoria Place is to be cornered off, can it be extended to the boating lake? The amount of people who let their dogs run off the lead and they end up chasing ducks etc., especially when the children are crabbing. The Mayor replied that if you look at the byelaws, it does state that dogs should be on a lead from Splash Point to the Boating Lake. He stated that we did look at a scheme where you could have an area where dogs are allowed, and in Colchester Country Park they have areas where dogs are allowed, and signs state ‘you are now leaving a dog on/off lead area’, maybe this is something that could be done in certain areas of Brightlingsea. The resident stated maybe on the Rope Walk. The Mayor replied that this will be passed on to Councillors Howard and Block to look into.
