CIL  MEETING – 17TH JUNE 2010

Minute 25 – Questions from the Public.

Questions

Q1) Anna Burnett – Why have you not reinstated the best decorated window for the carnival?
A1) Cllr J Chapman replied that this was nothing to do with the Council, but organised by the Carnival Committee.  Cllr Russell replied that there was still time to do the competition.

Q2) Colin Olivier – An Emergency is defined as “an event or situation which threatens serious damage to:
human welfare in a place in the United Kingdom
the environment of a place in the United Kingdom
war (or terrorism) which threatens serious damage to the security of the United Kingdom

What plans/arrangements are in place to respond to an occurrence of any of the above?

A2) The Mayor replied that other residents have made contact regarding this.  Cllr J Chapman replied that there is an emergency plan meeting on the 7th September at Jaywick.  She also briefed members on the plan which was put together many years ago.  Cllr Aldridge replied that no one has much information about this; we should have phone numbers of people to contact i.e. police, fire, school etc.  We should have some sort of plan and details on where to meet. Cllr V Chapman mentioned a seminar that she had attended, and that some ‘hook bags’ were brought back and put on the desk at the office.  It was agreed that this would be looked into further.
