COUNCIL MEETING – 17TH OCTOBER 2013
Minute Number 103 – Questions from the Public.
Question 1 – Richard Price – Can the Council give up to date information on any changes to former nursery on corner of Eastern Road/Ladysmith Avenue?
The Mayor replied that a planning application had been received to change the building from a nursery to residential. Councillor J Chapman said that there is a lot of concern about this application. If it becomes residential with less than 6 people there is no need for any other form of planning permission. The rumour is that this building is to be become a ‘half way house’. The police do not have a say on the matter, but have advised that they will fight against it as it is close to a school. Also parking is a problem. Tendering have promised they will let us know if anything materialises.
Question 2 – Sue Cook – Some of the properties on the Marina Development are being occupied by a London Borough. Is this going to happen more and more, especially with the proposed development in Robinson Road?
The Mayor replied that the Council does not have a say on who occupies property, especially if it is privately owned. Councillor Steady said that the Council did make representation to Harrogate Council who had no plans to come here.
Question 3 – Carol Harding – Is there any news regarding the extension to the lease granted to Mr Hammerton? Has he signed the lease, if not, why not?
The Mayor replied that the Council has not offered an extension to the lease at the moment.
