Minute Number 155 – Questions from the Public.

Q1) Would like to thank Councillor Howard for all her work on the emergency plan, which came in at an opportune moment.    The question is about the Nuclear Power Station – We have had the update and it says that Parish Councils have been consulted.  Do you think that Brightlingsea and St Osyth have been consulted?

A1) Councillor Barry replied that he has been liaising with Bradwell, and had arranged a meeting with them to come and talk to Councillors, but unfortunately this had to be postponed.  He said that he will try to get the meeting rearranged.

Q2) Ask Councillor Barry – are you aware of BANG – Backwater Against Nuclear Group?  It is a very competent group, and they would be willing to come and talk to the Council.

A2)  Councillor Barry replied that he had heard of the group but had not met with them, and it was agreed that their details would be given to Councillor Barry for future use.

Q3) County Councillor Goggin informed members that John White from St Osyth Parish Council sits on the Decommissioning Committee, so he could ask him, at the council meeting, about the postponed meeting.  He said that he reports at every meeting of St Osyth.  In answer to the question ‘Are St Osyth being consulted’, the answer is probably yes.  The Mayor replied that it would be good if County Councillor Goggin could inform him that a discussion took place tonight, and that we have shown an interest to talk to him, also that Councillor Barry will contact him asap.
