A public meeting to hear the case against a new nuclear power station being built at Bradwell has been organised by Brightlingsea Town Council.
The team behind the proposed Bradwell B team are holding a series of consultation meetings to promote the case for a new nuclear plant and Brightlingsea residents. The Town Council event will hear from Peter Banks, an elected councillor on West Mersea Town Council (WMTC), and chair of the WMTC Bradwell Monitoring Committee. His science background, including a degree in physics, opened doors to becoming the coordinator of the local Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Blackwater Against New Nuclear Group (BANNG).
This has enabled him to become a member of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) NGO Forum. He is a member of the Government Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (known as BEIS) Nuclear NGO Forum which regularly meets in Westminster. He has contributed to EU working groups on the movement of Nuclear Goods within the EU and is a member of the Bradwell Nuclear Power station Community Liaison Council.
The meeting takes place on Thursday, March 12 in the Parish Hall, Victoria Place, at 7.30pm, followed by a question and answer session. Please come and listen to the alternative viewpoint and engage in discussion on this important topic.
