Plans to build a new double classroom at Brightlingsea Infant School – which will see the removal of an existing double demountable building – have been approved by Tendring District Council (TDC).

The plans were welcomed by Brightlingsea Town Council which fully supported the proposal for the site in Eastern Road.

The application is for two classrooms, a snack area, kitchen, toilet facilities, entrance lobby and covered decked area. The new building will be slightly larger than the existing demountable but will not be out of character with the main school or the surrounding area.

It will be an improvement on the classrooms being demolished and is far enough away from nearby homes not to have an adverse effect on them.
