Amenity Areas

  • BAYARD RECREATION GROUND.

The Rec has been earmarked for an Anzac Weekend Commemoration in June 2016. The event, from 17-19 June, will include a dinner, concert, carnival, memorial service and cricket match. This is to mark the centenary of Australian and New Zealand troops arriving in Brightlingsea during World War One. I have joined the organising committee along with colleague councillors, and recommend that the council puts its full weight behind the organisation of the event.

  • The Grounds Manager and his staff are to be commended for their flexibility and professionalism in providing playing areas for a variety of youth football teams on the recreation ground. The playing surface is in fantastic shape and a credit to the town.

  • CRICKET CLUB

I have received representations from the Cricket Club regarding charges for the lease of the cricket square and store shed. I will forward these to the Finance Committee for their consideration when setting budgets for 2016.
