PARISH OF BRIGHTLINGSEA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy exists in the Office of Parish Councillor for the Parish of Brightlingsea.

An election will be held if, within 14 days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays) after the date of this notice, a request for an election to fill the vacancy is made to the Returning Officer at the Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex CO15 1SE by TEN electors for the electoral area.

If no such request is received within the time indicated, the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

Under the provisions of the Coronavirus Act 2020 and The Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus)(Postponement of Elections and Referendums)(England and Wales) Regulations 2020 any election requisitioned in response to this Notice will not be held until the law provides for it; which at the time of this Notice would be on Thursday, 6 May 2021.  The relevant vacancy would therefore remain unfilled until such an election was held as permitted in law.
