The finishing line is fast approaching for Tendring residents to nominate their top local sportsperson for the annual Tendring Sports Personality awards.
Now in their 10th year, the prestigious awards will feature five categories with 11 trophies to be presented on November 6 at the Princes Theatre, Clacton Town Hall. They are given out to individuals, teams, coaches and volunteers over a wide range of ages.
The Tendring Sports Personality Awards are a partnership between Tendring District Council (TDC) and activetendring.
Mark Platt, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, Culture, Leisure and Events, said: “Tendring is a real hotbed of sporting talent and this will be a great chance to recognise all those who are involved at various levels in a host of sports.”
He added: “The aim of these awards is to inspire and encourage our sportsmen and women to try to reach the top of their chosen field. It is also important to be encouraging people of all standards to take up sport and help to improve their overall health and well-being,” he added.
Nominations in before the closing date on September 26, 2014. Nomination forms are available on the sports development page of the TDC website here.
