F.011. CONFIRMATION OF THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON THE 24TH MAY 2012 RECEIVED BY COUNCIL ON THE 21ST JUNE 2012:.
The Minutes were accepted as a true record of the meeting.
F.012. DECLARATION OF PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS:
Members were reminded of the requirement to disclose any interest in relation to items on the agenda, when these are discussed.
Councillor Dixon disclosed a personal interest in the grant applications for Brightlingsea Recent FC and the Church Lads and Girls Brigade.
F.013. BRIGHTLINGSEA CARNIVAL – COUNCILLOR STEADY TO REPORT:
Councillors J Chapman and J Russell both declared a prejudicial interest in this tem, and left the room whilst discussion took place.
Councillor Steady briefed members on the Carnival and after discussion it was agreed that the Council invites the Carnival to attend a meting with members to discuss their needs, financial problems etc. Agreed.
Recommendation: The Council invites the Carnival to attend a meting with members to discuss their needs, financial problems etc.
F.013. 1ST ROUND OF GRANT APPLICATIONS:
The following applications were discussed:
Brightlingsea Free Music Festival – No grant is given, but they can hire the Council Gazebo in the usual way, and also the Council Urn.
Councillor J Chapman declared a personal interest in the following application:
Brightlingsea Infant School – Agreed to grant an amount of £200.00.
Indoor Bowls Club – Agreed to grant an amount of £300.00, subject to more information being provided i.e. are they part of the Community Centre.
Brightlingsea Christmas Tree Festival – No grant is given as this is not a capital project.
Councillor Russell declared a personal interest in the following item:
Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade – Agreed that a grant is given for £575.00, the Council will purchase the item and reclaim back the VAT. BTC would also like the item to be engraved, supplied by Brightlingsea Town Council, and will pay for this to be carried out.
Councillor Goggin and Steady both declared a personal interest in the following item:
Brightlingsea Museum – A grant is given for £325.00.
Colne Smack Preservation Society – A grant is given of £500.00, subject to a works programme being provided.
Councillor Block, Dixon and Steady all declared a personal interest in the following item:
Brightlingsea Regent FC – Agreed to grant an amount of £200.00
Colne Quilters – Agreed to grant an amount of £125.00
Total amount given: £2,225.00
Recommendation: Grants are given as detailed above.
