Residents across Tendring are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote in time for the elections in May.

UK Parliamentary, Tendring District Council and Town and Parish Council Elections will all be taking place on Thursday May 7, 2015.

And Electoral Registration Officer Ian Davidson wants to ensure no one is disappointed and misses out.

“People are talking about the elections, but you’ll only be able to have your say on May 7 if you’ve registered to vote by the deadline of Monday April 20, 2015,” he said.

“Applying to register is really quick and simple. It can be done online at, or via an application form which you can either download from the register to vote site or which Electoral Services can send to you.

“You can even register over the telephone by calling us at the Town Hall on 01255 686566.”

Applicants will be asked to provide their National Insurance Number and date of birth to enable their identity to be verified.

Mr Davidson said that many people think they’re already registered – but it’s really important to double check.

“People believe they are automatically registered because they pay Council Tax, but this isn’t correct,” he added. “If you’re unsure if you are registered then please give the Electoral Services team a quick call.”
