Councillor Ian Block was elected as Brightlingsea Town Mayor at the recent Annual Council Meeting.
Councillor Block, a retired Royal Mail Property Project Manager, has lived in Brightlingsea for 45 years and has been a Town Councillor for the last 10 years.
A previous chair of the Finance Committee for eight years and a member of the planning committee for 10, this will be his second stint as Mayor.
He has a son and daughter and four grandchildren and his Mayoress for the coming year will be his partner, Mrs Eileen Lowe. Apart from his work on the Council, Councillor Block is the current President of Brightlingsea Regent Football Club has been treasurer at Brightlingsea Community Centre. He is a Freeman of Brightlingsea and also a Deputy’s Assistant.
His charities for the coming year will be the Brightlingsea Saturday Club and the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Deputy Mayor for this year is Councillor Ben Smith.
