From the Town Plan there is a clear need for some road calming especially the junction where Church Road meets Well Street and Spring Chase and linked with this junction Seaview Road, Ladysmith Avenue and Spring Road.

Out of over 1,000 written responses to the question “Do you think there are any major ‘danger spots’ on the roads in Brightlingsea” 252 related to the roads at this junction.

The Brightlingsea Town Council requests the Portfolio Holder for Transport and Highways, County Councillor Rodney Bass, to arrange for suitable traffic calming at this multi-junction such as one or two mini roundabouts. We hope we can rely on our County Council representative, County Councillor Alan Goggin, to fully support this scheme.

Motion proposed by Councillor Russell

Due to vehicles parked on the four corners of Nelson Street and Duke Street where they meet Silcott Street, the view of drivers in vehicles accessing Silcott Street from these roads is blocked and pedestrian and those in mobility scooters cannot be seen.
