Charities in need of computer equipment are being encouraged to apply to Essex County Council to receive a share of computers and laptops no longer being used by the council.
As part of the council’s Community Computing scheme Essex charities can apply for up to five laptops and desktops to use to support their work in the community.

The scheme has been running since January 2013 and during this time Essex County Council has donated 794 PCs to 235 Essex organisations – equivalent to a £39,700 donation to charities in Essex.  The council has also donated equipment to foster homes in Essex and to a Not for Profit organisation called TechJams.
