Brightlingsea Town Council will be among over a thousand organisations across the UK and worldwide that will be participating in the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth event on Monday, March 11th.

The initiative, now in its fifth year, is a collective public expression of commitment to the Commonwealth, and enables participants to show appreciation for the values the Commonwealth upholds, and the opportunities offered for friendship and cooperation with fellow Commonwealth citizens of all ages around the world.

The Brightlingsea event will take place at the War Memorial in Victoria Place. Starting at 9.50am, messages from Her Majesty The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, and the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, will be read, followed by a Commonwealth Affirmation before the raising of the flag at 10am.
