On the suggestion of a member of the public, I have called for a public meeting on the 10th April. The ECC ‘cutting’ schedule will only give us one ‘cut’ a year from now on and therefore we need volunteers to help out to keep out paths clear. Maybe paths could be adopted by groups of volunteers.
On 28th February a group of volunteers from University of Essex are coming to clear and rubbish pick the paths on the Manor Estate.
After a couple of complaints to the office, I have investigated the problem. A landowner had recently repaired a fence on his private property and this stopped mobility scooters and prams/pushchairs crossing his land to access a footpath.
A recent request by me to all known footpath walkers (by e-mail) to survey the footpaths and report any problems – resulted in only one reply.
