Residents across Tendring are being urged to make use of their free leisure voucher over the coming months.
Around 70,000 vouchers went out to Council Tax paying households in the District earlier this year.
So far 444 have been used at leisure centres and swimming pools in Clacton, Brightlingsea, Frinton/Walton, Dovercourt, Harwich and Manningtree for a wide range of activities.
However, the vouchers can only be used until the end of September – at which time they will expire.
They allow free casual activities at a chosen site including casual swimming, gym, classes and racket sports and can be used by any member of the family.
Mick Page, Leader of TDC who introduced the idea, said he hopes that people will not lose out.
“The vouchers went out with the Council Tax bills – as well as a free parking permit for TDC-run car parks for the third successive year,” he said.
“The initial take-up was good but it seems to have slowed up more recently and I urge people to make us of them while they are still valid.
“The vouchers will be ideal during the school summer holidays and it may be that someone else in the family who received one may want to pass it on if they are not going to use it themselves.”
Cllr Page added that the parking permits, valid until March 31, 2015, are again proving very popular and can be used at all the Council’s public car parks except those at the Naze at Walton and Holland Haven from 11am each day.
