Meeting with ECC officers to discuss draft. |
Review of 7 places on B1027 where requests from parish councils for speed reductions and extensions of existing. Aim was to produce before LHP meet 17/09/20. |
Needed to accommodate current & future developments on B1027. As some not in line with strategic team will need portfolio-holder clinic. |

Hoping to achieve 98% coverage by Dec 21. Broadband champions needed in many areas. |
Vouchers for business [£3500] & residents [£1500] may be available for hard to reach properties. |

Local Govt reform. Meetings 10/09/20 & 03/09/20 |
It was in the Conservative manifesto so is expected to happen. |
Minister in charge [Clarke] resigned. Personal issue. Seen as a mixture of devolution and recovery. There will be a blind survey. Several thousand residents. |
White paper expected from Govt. Autumn 20. |

Education portfolio meeting 09/10/20 |
Main discussion point is back to school plans. |
Better than forecast by some, return at 88%. After summer holiday in normal times would be 96%. |
Teachers and their support staff have been magnificent. Nationwide some problems ref. testing. No complaints reached me locally. |

Police meeting 27/08/20 |
AG attended fire station with PCSO’s & sergeant |
Local residents visited took opportunity to talk to police. Main issue appeared to be speeding in Town. Police also able to mention BTC joint initiative. |
As a direct result – 2 days later – a speed gun used at Lower Park Road. Caught 4 people in 90 minutes. Mainly local. Max 34 MPH |

AG attended with Cllrs. Steady, Chasney, & Carr. Terrific result of work from a committed committee. |
Town should be proud of this addition. Good use of ECC grant money and much more. |
