AG Brightlingsea notes- week commencing 13 Sep 21 [Last meet Aug 19]
1. Essex Community Initiative Fund. CIF. AG confirmed support for grant applications in Brightlingsea:-

  • Lido. Heat retaining pool cover for water. £10,000 grant application based on total spend of £42K. Lido supply £32K plus.
  • Pawsons playground refurbishment. £10,000 grant application based on total spend of £133K including TDC Section 106 funds, plus insurance claim.
  • Skate board park refurbishment. £10,000 grant application based on total spend of £15K

2. North Essex Parking Partnership. Arranged for removal of parking fine on greensward in Church Road after complaint from resident. May need to discuss at Council.
3. Aug 26 & Sep 1. Colne school site meetings with 4 residents from Maltings Road. Compromises agreed and to be discussed. Protection of students safeguarding main focus.
4. Sep 9. Attended Chelmsford ECC scrutiny ctte where libraries discussed. Sep 20 library consultation at 10.00 or 18.00 hrs via. Portfolio Holder. Circulated to Councillors, plus to residents to take part by FACEBOOK page and David Bridle page. BTC website too.
5. Sep 8. Attended Safer Essex Road partnership. ECC plus 11 major partners including all emergency services. Single mission to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries in Essex by 2040! Currently reducing. 2014 was 1,104 reported. 2020 with COVID reductions lower at 722 but still included 49 deaths. Include driver speed awareness courses.15,000 plus drivers last year alone attended.
6. Have been advised that Veolia requested to sweep cycle track on Church Hill
7. No further discussion since last meeting re Brown signs for LIDO
8. No further discussion since last meeting re complaint about school truancy systems at Colne.
9. Sep 13. Emergency repair of 5 potholes in Church Road. Outside Autosmith Garage. They were categorised “make safes” in advance of resurfacing that part of Church Road in October. Worked in conjunction with Cllr. Judson to achieve.
10. Half Term. The Zebra crossing outside Colne school is scheduled to be installed. Also traffic island in Bateman Road.
11. Aug 5. Local fisherman clinic. Fishing problems. Bring to Kent & Essex Fisheries attention. Next meeting scheduled September 17.
12. Application to ECC for B’Sea food bank. Covid support for families.
13. BTC advised by ECC of future road & carriageway repairs requiring road closures for machine surfacing:-

  • October 20 X 3 day – Church Road
  • October 21 X 4 days – Victoria Place & Station Road
  • October 22 X 8 nights -Church Road

Much of work over the evenings. Starting 19.30 hrs to 06.00 Hrs. Apologies in advance for inconvenience from traffic lights and diversions.

14. Local Highway Panel. Next meeting Sept 16. To discuss no funds left for this financial year despite extra £200K. Brightlingsea local need include Zebra Crossing at Colne, Pedestrian island Batemans Road, speed survey Mill Street.
15. 2021. Member initiative relaunched. £10,000 available. Discuss what was learnt last time but also fresh opportunity to look at next local needs.
