Brightlingsea – Wivenhoe – University – Colchester

From Sunday 4th September service 87 will operate to a revised route and a daytime frequency of every 30 minutes.

In Brightlingsea, buses will operate a horseshoe route beginning at Regent Road (Regent Close stop) and operate via Chapel Road, Victoria Place, Lower Park Road and Colne School en route to Thorrington Cross and beyond. The route will then be as present as far as Greenstead Road Tesco, after which buses will operate via Hythe Hill, Barrack Street and Magdalen Street to Colchester town centre. Buses will then continue to North Station and Turner Rise ASDA. Passengers should be aware that this route will operate in both directions.

This route has been designed to eliminate the previous “double-loops” that have existed at both ends and to allow all-day access both to and from Victoria Place (for residents in Brightlingsea) and North Station, without the need to change buses or walk longer distances.

Following considerable passenger feedback the current 87A journey will also be reinstated, subject to approval, as a normal 87 journey. Passengers intending to change to the 0629 service from Wivenhoe to London should walk from the Co-op.

This revision will be kept under review and any feedback is always welcome.
