Four new bungalows look set to be built on the site of a former highways depot in Brightlingsea.

Tendring District Council (TDC) has given the all-clear to the scheme for the land in Samsons Road which already benefits from a double gated vehicular access. The site has been cleared to make way for two two-bedroom semi-detached properties and two three-bedroom detached properties. Each would have its own access, driveway and detached garage.

Brightlingsea Town Council supported the proposal and TDC received one letter of objection concerned about noise and disturbance, loss of privacy and extra traffic. Essex County Council, as the highway authority, raised no opposition.

Due to a deficit in equipped open play and formal open space in Brightlingsea a financial contribution will be required from the developer. It will be used to provide adult gym equipment at Western Promenade in the town.
