Brightlingsea’s open air swimming pool opens for 2014 this Saturday, May 24th after refurbishment made necessary by the floods last December.

Originally built in 1933 this lido facility is one of the few remaining outdoor swimming pools. It comprises of two pools, one a 15m paddling pool, and the second a 50m main pool. The facility is extremely popular with local residents and holidaymakers alike.

On weekends and over the school holidays, the pool is open from 10am to 6pm, and on Monday to Friday (outside of school holidays) the opening hours are 3.30-6pm.

Admission prices are:

  • Adult: £3.80
  • Junior/Senior Citizen: £2.85
  • Spectator: £2.85
  • Families (up to 2 adults & 2 children): £10

Season tickets – which run from opening day to the September 7, 2014 – are available from Brightlingsea Sports Centre for £54 for adults, £40 for juniors and senior citizens, and family (max 4 people including one adult) £126.

Note that opening is subject to the weather and there must be a minimum of 10 people in the pool area in order for it to open or remain open.
