Essex County Council will be carrying out work in Brightlingsea High Street from April 25th for five days and the road will closed between its junctions with John Street and Tower Street.
Shops in the affected area will be open as usual, but the closure means that Hedingham’s 87 bus service will be diverted on its route to Colchester. The buses will now run via Station Road, Lower Park Road, Spring Chase, turn right into Bateman Road, Red Barn Road and Chapel Road, before turning right into Bellfield Road and then picking up the usual route.
During the closure, stops in Brightlingsea High Street, Hurst Green and Chapel Road won’t be in operation.
Update:
Following the announcement of the closure, Brightlingsea Town Council has written to Essex County Council’s Highways Department asking:
1) Will there be a notice in place advising people that the shops in the road closure area will be open and trading?
2) Will notices be placed on the bus stops which are not going to be serviced during the closure, i.e. High Street, Hurst Green and Chapel Road, advising of the new route of the bus service?
3) Will there be any temporary bus stops in other locations i.e. corner of Red Barn Road/Chapel Road, for those people who normally catch the bus in Chapel Road?
Further details will be published here as soon as they are known.
