Over 20 people braved cold winds and a hail storm on Saturday 13th April  to take part in a clean-up of Brightlingsea’s beaches. The event, which was promoted by Brightlingsea Town Council, attracted members of the public and was supported by councillors and council staff.

The event was part of the “Great British Spring Clean-Up” in association with Keep Britain Tidy and in partnership with the Daily Mail and headline sponsor Wilko. The council’s ground staff were on hand to help and direct collectors, who picked up all manner of litter and rubbish.

Tracey Pulford, Clerk to the Council, who also took part in the event with her family, said: “With the imminent start of the tourist season and an influx of expected visitors over Easter it is most important that our beaches and waterfront areas look at their best. It was gratifying to see a good turnout in the cold conditions and we thank everybody who attended.”
