With the European Parliamentary Elections taking place on Thursday May 22, residents in Tendring are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote in time.
“People are talking about the elections, but you’ll only be able to have your say on who represents you in the European Parliament if you’re registered to vote by the deadline of Tuesday May 6,” said Electoral Registration Officer Ian Davidson.
“Registering is quick and simple. All you have to do is visit www.tendringdc.gov.uk/council/elections-voting and print off a registration form or contact our Electoral Services team on 01255 686566 or email them at elections@tendringdc.gov.uk
Mr Davidson said that many people think they’re already registered, but it’s really important to double check.
“Many believe they are automatically registered because they pay Council Tax, but this isn’t true,” he added. “If you’re unsure, please do give the Electoral Services team a call.”
