Plans to spend £130,000 improving public toilets in Brightlingsea have been agreed.

Tendring District Council’s Cabinet voted on Friday, September 14 to spend the section 106 money – cash given by developers for public realm improvements – to upgrade the amenity in Promenade Way.

Talks are ongoing with Brightlingsea Town Council about other funding streams for the works, but Cabinet councillors agreed to approve the money so it was available if needed.

Council leader Neil Stock said: “With Brightlingsea there may be other funding, but what is important is that these toilets are refurbished before next summer as they are an important part of the tourist offer there – especially for beach hut owners.”
