Amenity Areas / Allotments
Objectives:
• Provide better storage and facilities. On-going discussions with user groups.
• To acquire more amenity land
• Looking also into the feasibility of siting a Maze on either Bayard or Lower Park Recreation Ground
• Looking into the provision of water at the allotments taking its valuable nature into consideration.
• Looking at obtaining funding for a brick built storage building on site.
Action Plan for October 2011 to February 2012:
• Posts showing allotment numbers to be sited - now completed.
Manor Wood
Work has commenced coppicing and clearing the area.
Lower Park Recreation Ground
• Improve landscaping - looking at the feasibility of including a sensory garden
• Improve drainage
• Increase dialogue with user groups
Action Plan for October 2011 to February 2012:
• Renewal of boundary fences
• Re-design car parking area. Plans and costings being prepared.
Bayard Recreation Ground
• Form a management structure more fit for purpose
• Increase changing facilities
Action Plan for October 2011 to February 2012:
• Spraying – now completed
• Top dressing - 1st part completed.
• Sensory area
• Landscaping completed on the Playcentre boundary
• Extending storage area
• Bases for two new picnic tables/chairs
• Improve boundary fences – now completed
• Looking into the feasibility of a self-build scheme to improve the existing changing facilities
All new equipment installed in the Bayard Children’s Playground and also a new litter bin, worth approximately £400, has been put in place in the playground. This was supplied by the equipment providers, at no cost to the Council. My thanks to our Grounds Manager, Terry Hamilton, for overseeing this work.
