Minute 216 – Questions from the Public.

Questions
Q1) Joyce House – Brightlingsea seems to have more than its fair share of vandalism.  I am led to believe that there were two arrests in the Town for the recent graffiti.  Is this true?

A1) PCSO Terry Fairweather, who was in the audience, replied that two names had been put forward and enquiries are ongoing at the moment.  During the weekends, extra Special Constables are now patrolling the area.

Q2) Two written questions had been received by Richard Price and read out by the Mayor – (1) Has a planning application for the proposed Cricket Club development for practise and storage facilities been sent to Tendring District Council, if so when will the public be able to see the plans? (2) Have the full council approved the recommendations of the Finance Committee Meeting 2/12/09, which was to loan the money for the Cricket Club development, if so please clarify in detail how the ratepayers money is to be paid back?

A2) The Mayor asked Cllr Steady to reply.
Cllr Steady replied as follows:
(1) No planning application to Tendring District Council has been submitted at the moment.
(2) The minutes of the Finance Committee Meting held on 2nd December 2009 were agreed and approved by Full Council on the 10th December 2009.
With regard to paying the money back, the Cricket Club will be paying an increase in rent over a period of 2-4 years.  Part of the rational behind doing this is that due to the economic conditions at the moment and that the return from investment accounts is very low; therefore it makes sense to use the money to improve Council facilities, which will be at no cost to the rate payer.  The project will also include landscaping, a fence on the Regent Road boundary, new gates and information boards.
